Commissioning the ABLE A5: Three Checks Before the First Production Bag

A 53mm print width covers a lot of real estate on a pouch. Set the ABLE A5 up a millimetre off and that error shows up along the whole edge of the code — or worse, the head comes down on steel instead of the plate. Both problems are avoidable, and both are found in the first five minutes.

Check one: is the head over the backing plate? With the ABLE A5 on its intermittent bracket, look at the print unit from the front. The printhead must sit above the backing plate. If it doesn't, correct it inside the machine, not by shifting the bracket. Tap the gear icon bottom-left → Log In (the password matches the user name) → Position Settings. Working Position is the left/right trim; walk the head across until it's over the plate. This is the step that saves printheads.

Check two: what's the gap? Press the head down and judge the clearance to the backing plate. 1–2mm is the target. If the machine has Auto Position, let it set the value. If it doesn't, you set it by hand — there's no third option.

Check three: does the test print land where you want it? Run one. Off-centre or light on one side? Adjust it yourself: bottom-left Settings → Position Settings → Print Position — the down position, which governs how far the printhead travels. Change, test, then start production.

Correct installation recommendations and professional guidance will help customers extend the use time of the machine. If there are any installation issues with the heat transfer coding machine, please feel free to contact me.
