The Able A5 no-cylinder TTO printer is a 53 mm thermal transfer overprinter for flexible packaging. One machine covers the three coding jobs every packaging line needs: date coding (production dates, expiry dates, batch numbers), QR and barcode coding for traceability, and inline coding on labeling and packaging machines.
The A5 prints dry, smudge-resistant codes directly on film and pouches by thermal transfer (TTO) – no ink, no solvents, no drying time. The no-cylinder design drives the printhead electrically, which keeps the printer compact, cuts the moving parts that wear out, and means the line does not need compressed air.

Print production dates, expiry dates, best-before dates, batch and lot numbers directly on film and pouches. The A5 replaces hot stamp coders and ink rollers with clear, consistent thermal transfer codes that stand out on flexible film.
Print QR codes, barcodes, product logos and variable data for traceability programs, anti-counterfeiting and retail compliance. High-resolution thermal transfer keeps small codes scannable from the first pack to the last.
TTO coders like the A5 are commonly mounted on labeling machines, flow wrappers, VFFS machines and complete packaging lines to code film, pouches and labels inline. Compact size and simple ribbon path make it easy to fit into existing equipment.
The A5 is developed for packaging materials that need a clean, dry coding method:
Plastic film & laminated film
Aluminum foil packaging
Vacuum bags & food pouches
Pharmaceutical sachets
Cosmetic packaging
Can the A5 TTO printer print production dates and expiry dates?
Yes. The A5 prints production dates, expiry dates, best-before dates, batch and lot numbers and serial numbers directly on flexible film packaging, with the date and time set on the printer.
Can it print QR codes and barcodes?
Yes. The A5 supports barcode and QR code printing along with text, product logos and variable data, which makes it suitable for traceability programs on food and pharmaceutical packaging.
Can the A5 be used with a labeling machine?
TTO coders like the A5 are commonly integrated with labeling machines and packaging lines to code film, pouches and labels inline. Tell us your machine model and line speed when asking for a quotation so we can confirm the mounting kit.
What is a no-cylinder TTO printer?
A no-cylinder (electric-drive) TTO printer moves the printhead with an electric motor instead of a pneumatic cylinder. This removes the need for compressed air on the line, simplifies installation and reduces the moving parts that wear out.
What consumables does the A5 use?
The A5 uses thermal transfer ribbon (TTO ribbon). We supply matching TTO ribbons in the required widths and lengths for continuous supply.
